With the passing of Labor Day, I suppose this means that the time has passed for idle summer thoughts and daydreams. Well… maybe for some. For others, that time never really passes. That doesn’t mean that work doesn’t get done, but in the in-between moments from one thought to the next come these unbidden idears, such as…
Laser eye surgery. What if it actually was like it sounds like? How cool would that be?
Carnivorous grass would be a real game-changer.
Even though I’ve outgrown being a fan of the band, Rush (it’s really something you get out of your system while in high school) I still maintain that Neil Peart is the greatest rock drummer ever.
Speaking of high school rock music, Journey started to go down hill after Gregg Rolie left the band. It’s true. Go find some of the really early albums and then tell me I’m wrong.
If his colleagues had treated Benedict Arnold with a bit more respect, he might not have gone the route he did and would have, instead, been one of America’s greatest heroes.
The science of dinosaur DNA cloning is not progressing fast enough.
The science of dinosaur-with-laser-eyes DNA cloning is probably at the level it should be.

So we could hardly tell it was a holiday weekend other than that Margaret had stayed home. Both of us worked most of yesterday. She on various work-related things. Me on the same. I turned in a completed proof of the Ida Lupino book, and nearly finished an overdue poetry book project that I’m putting the finishing touches on today. Then it’s on to my other overdue poetry book project, opening up a book project on werewolves in film, and one on Italian theatre. This afternoon I’ll be neck-deep in checking citations for the next medical journal.
Who needs three-day weekends? I mean… who has time for them?
Still, we did go out a couple of times. Took the dog on some adventures. Visited the art festival in East Greenwich. I saw some very nice pieces–some of which I would have cheerfully purchased had not the holiday mean that the banks were closed and some checks were still waiting to be cleared. Fortunately, I have loads of business cards and may check out the various artist Etsy sites.
Speaking of which, I’ve signed up with Etsy. I’ve not put anything up yet, but I will this week. More on that anon.
Cheers!
